The update of the five-door body was presented, which will not have a new generation for now. What changes compared to the current model. The redesign of the Toyota Yaris, the compact hatchback (segment B), was finally announced. The Japanese brand presented it in Thailand, where it is already manufactured and marketed. For South America, it has not yet been confirmed, so its arrival in Argentina remains to be seen. With this update, the Yaris hatchback starts an independent path from the Yaris sedan, in terms of design. The new generation of the hatchback (see here) differs in the style of the headlights, whose format is sharper than the current model, as well as in the bumper and grille. In turn, the alloy wheels with a new design and changes in the cabin, which focus on connectivity and equipment stand out. The top-of-the-line versions in Thailand gain a new 9-inch multimedia center, while the entry-level versions have a 7- or 8-inch one. In addition, it has new upholstery and USB-C inputs for rear occupants. The more expensive options also add driving assists, such as pre-collision system, lane departure warning, rear cross-traffic alert and blind-spot monitor. As for the mechanics, the 92 hp 1.2-liter aspirated gasoline engine with CVT automatic gearbox is maintained for the Asian market. According to the official data sheet, it consumes only 4.3 liters per 100 kilometers. In Brazil, it has already been confirmed that the new generation of the Yaris will be manufactured with sedan bodywork. With this model, Toyota intends to compete directly against the Honda City, which is already produced in the neighboring country. It remains to be seen whether the five-door Yaris will have the same fate as the sedan, whether it will adopt a new generation (the least likely, considering that a restyling was presented in Thailand), whether it will incorporate the redesign of its Asian counterpart or whether it will be discontinued for good. Today, the Yaris is one of the ten most patented 0 km vehicles in Argentina, despite the fact that it is manufactured abroad. Toyota is able to bring it from Brazil at a good pace thanks to the fact that it exports many units of the Hilux and balances the trade balance. Corolla and Corolla Cross are also among the first in the ranking. There are five versions of the hatchback on sale: XS manual ($4,703,000), XSL manual ($5,302,000), XLS automatic ($5,684,000), XLS Pack automatic ($5,924,000) and S automatic ($6,068,000). These prices are valid until March 2023 and do not include additional costs or surcharges. Fuente: Autocosmos
