Spain best-selling cars ranking up to August of 2020 was led by the Seat Leon ahead by less than 500 sales over the Dacia Sandero. The Toyota Corolla jumped in 5th position, while also being the only gainer in the Top 10.
Since the national Spanish manufacturer was acquired by the Volkswagen group, Spain welcomed the localization of vehicle manufacturing facilities becoming one of the most relevant production hubs in Europe and in the World. The domestic consumer does not recognize Seat as the unique national brand and the market concentration is among the lowest in entire Europe.
The best selling car ranking is characterized by a wide battle for leadership among several models of different brands.
Up until August 2020 Seat Leon leads the ranking with 14.119 units (-44.9%) and 2.7% market share, with near 800 units of advantage -just 0.1% more share- over the Dacia Sandero, second with 13.677 units (-42.3%) and the Renault Clio with 12.290 sales (-35.3%) and 2.3% share.
In fourth place the Nissan Qashqai with 12.063 units (-43.5%) ahead of the Toyota Corolla with 9.913 units (+8.4%), which last year was 35th and is the only gainer in the top 10 ranking, followed by the Seat Arona with 9.775 sales (-45.9%).
In seventh place the Seat Ateca -up eleven spots- with 8.817 units sold (-27.1%) followed by the Peugeot 3008 with 8.686 (-46.7%), the Volkswagen Golf at 8.681 (-46.8%) and in 10th place the Peugeot 2008 – down 4 spots – with 8.662 (-46.7%).
