New Porsche 911 Turbo S

Nordenwagen, Porsche representative in Argentina, presented the new 911 Turbo S: the top of the range version of the classic German sports car, in its 992 generation. It has a 3.8 biturbo six-cylinder Boxer engine (650 hp and 800 Nm), with an automatic dual-clutch transmission (PDK eight-speed) and permanent four-wheel drive. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in just 2.7 seconds and reaches 330 km / h.

Its price in Argentina starts at 696 thousand dollars, although there are versions of up to 742 thousand dollars (see release note ).

Hugo Pulenta, president of Nordenwagen, assured: “With its great power, high torque and unrivaled driving dynamics, the 911 Turbo S is ideal to go to the racetrack and enjoy the almost six kilometers of the long circuit well, with its long straights along the lake, or for the 19 very demanding curves offered by a layout like the 6 ”Circuit.

In an arbitrary way and without consulting Pulenta, in this little blog we consider that Pulenta phrase as a true wink dedicated to the official track of the Autoblog Ranking (

The first units of the new 911 Turbo S have already arrived in Argentina and in the video below it is shown in detail by Gustavo Gioia, general manager of Porsche in Argentina.

Porsche Argentina press release

The new Porsche 911 Turbo S is presented in Argentina Buenos Aires. Nordewagen SA, Porsche's exclusive importer for Argentina, today presented the new Porsche 911 Turbo S. The virtual launch of the top-of-the-range model of the 911 line can be seen on the official pages of Porsche Argentina on Facebook (@PorscheArgentinaOfficial) and Instagram (@porsche_argentina). In addition to watching the video, customers and fans of the brand can configure the 911 Turbo S of their dreams from home in the Porsche Car Configurator.

The new 911 Turbo S is available in Argentina in Coupé and Cabriolet versions, both powered by a new 3,745 c.c. boxer engine. with two variable geometry turbochargers (VTG), delivering metric power (641 hp, 478 kW), 70 hp (68 hp, 51 kW) more than its predecessor. The maximum torque is now 800 newton meters (an increase of 50 Nm). The eight-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) dual-clutch gearbox is Turbo-specific. With this equipment, the 911 Turbo S accelerates from zero to 100 km / h in just 2.7 seconds (0.2 seconds faster than its predecessor), while the top speed remains unchanged at 330 km / h.

“With its great power, high torque and unrivaled driving dynamics, the 911 Turbo S is ideal for going to the racetrack and enjoying either the almost six kilometers of the long circuit, with its long straights of the expanse of the lake, or for the 19 very demanding corners that offer a layout like the one on Circuit 6 ”, said Hugo Pulenta, President of Porsche Argentina. "Additionally, the car offers great comfort, which makes it ideal for everyday use as well."

The 911 Turbo S is a very exclusive car that has been very well received in Argentina. "We delivered six cars in the country of the previous generation, which was available between 2017 and 2018," said Gustavo Gioia, General Manager of Porsche Argentina. "This new version comes with an entry price of $ 696,000 for the Coupé and 742,000 for the Cabriolet."

Gioia also highlighted the use of the Porsche Car Configurator so that people can become familiar with the Porsche 911 Turbo S without having to leave the house. "By using this digital tool, customers and fans can choose the model, the color, the wheels, the seats, the interior finishes, in short, they can configure the 911 of their dreams," he said. "Once they have configured their car they can know the purchase price in the country and generate a code with which any of our sales executives can help them order the car from the factory."

More space, more comfort, better driving dynamics

The dimensions of the 911 Turbo S were significantly increased, in line with the improved driving dynamics: the body is now 45 millimeters wider at the front axle (1,840 millimeters), and the overall width is 1,900 millimeters at the rear axle (an increase 20 mm). The modified track width, further developed aerodynamics and new mixed-size tires contribute to its agility and sportiness: the track is now 42mm wider at the front axle and 10mm wider at the rear axle. Adaptive aerodynamics now includes a controlled cooling air deflector at the front, while the larger rear spoiler has been designed for increased downforce. For the first time, the 911 Turbo S transfers its power to the asphalt with mixed tires in two different sizes: 20-inch with their unique 255/35 dimensions at the front and 315/30 21-inch tires at the rear. New equipment options underline the much sportier image of the all-wheel drive 911. These include the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) sports chassis, which lowers the body height by 10 millimeters, and the sports exhaust system with adjustable fins that ensures a unique sound.

Completely redesigned engine

The all-new engine in the 911 Turbo S is based on the current generation 911 Carrera. It has a completely redesigned intercooler, new larger Variable Geometry (VTG) turbochargers, with a symmetrical arrangement and electrically regulated wastegate valves; as well as piezoelectric injectors that significantly improve vehicle performance in terms of response, power, torque, emissions, and the ability to rev up faster.

The six-cylinder engine has a new air intake system. The intake and cooling air paths for the intercooler have been changed: part of the air flow now comes through the characteristic side intakes of the Turbo model. In front of the air filters, which have been placed in the rear wings, two other air intakes were also incorporated on the rear hood grille. This means that the new 911 Turbo S has four intake intakes with a larger cross-section and lower resistance, which contributes to improved engine efficiency. Two larger, symmetrical turbochargers with variable geometry turbine replace the previous ones. The compressor and turbine blades now rotate in opposite directions. The diameter of the turbine blades was increased by five millimeters, to 55 mm, while that of the compressor blades increased by three millimeters to reach 61 mm. The relief valves are electrically controlled by motors with different phases.

Design focused on driving pleasure

The harmonious design, which perfectly combines driving pleasure, dynamism and sportiness, is as valid for everyday use of the car as it is for unleashing its potential on the track. The jump in performance of this new generation is especially notable in the acceleration from 0 to 200 km / h: with a mark of 8.9 seconds, this 911 Turbo S is no less than a second faster than its predecessor. Thanks to the improved Porsche Traction Management (PTM) system that manages the all-wheel drive, the differential can distribute significantly more torque to the front wheels (up to 500 Nm). The new generation PASM chassis fitted as standard on the 911 Turbo S is also sportier. Faster and more precise control of damping than before, provides significant advances in performance aspects such as roll, firmness on the road, steering performance and cornering speed.

The new front, with wider air intakes, has the characteristic Turbo look given by the headlights, as well as the matrix LED headlights with dark inserts. The redesigned front spoiler is deployed via a pneumatic mechanism, while the larger rear wing provides 15 percent more downforce. The muscular rear fins with integrated air intakes emphasize the clean and pure bodywork of the 911 Turbo S. The new look of the rear is completed by the rectangular high-gloss black tailpipes, a hallmark of the Turbo model.

The high-quality interior

The interior is sporty and of high quality. The standard equipment list includes an all-leather upholstered cabin, with carbon fiber inserts that are matched with soft silver accents. The 18-way sports seats feature stitching that pays homage to the first 911 Turbo (Type 930). High-quality graphic elements and instrument cluster logos complete the characteristic Turbo S finish. The PCM's center display is now 10.9 inches and can be operated quickly and without distraction thanks to its new layout. Other components that are part of the standard equipment are the GT sports steering wheel, the Sport Chrono package with the integrated Porsche Track Precision app and the BOSE® surround sound system.
