This was announced by the ANSV, in a new edition of the Federal Alcoholemia operation. With the aim of reducing the number of people driving under the influence of alcohol, the National Road Safety Agency (ANSV) announced that breathalyzer controls will be carried out on a weekly basis throughout the country. The agency, which depends on the National Ministry of Transport, announced the measure within the framework of a new edition of Alcoholemia Federal, which started last Saturday, March 11. This is the 28th time that the operation is carried out, 3rd so far in 2023. Pablo Martínez Carignano, executive director of ANSV, said that, since its first edition, Alcoholemia Federal "showed positive results as a control and awareness tool", which is why, together with "the demand of the people in each town and province", it was decided to start carrying it out on a weekly basis. This is a work that the Agency carries out together with the provinces, the municipalities and the National Commission for Transport Regulation (CNRT), deploying more than 30 control bases. The previous edition of the operation took place during the Carnival weekend. There, only 2% of those tested showed positive results (i.e. they exceeded the maximum limit of the jurisdiction, which can be 0.0 gr. or 0.5 gr. of alcohol per liter of blood), while 97% were negative.
